PASSION FOR LIFE: New Year, New You by Suzette Langley

Happy New Year to everyone! Was it just me or did the holidays fly past in a blur?? I hope you took time to find moments of peace and rest during the busy time. With the New Year upon us, it is a time of new beginnings, new possibilities, and new resolutions. Or perhaps, your resolutions are the same, just the date has changed. Either way, now is a time to consider the changes you would like to make and how you can attain the goals and dreams you desire in the coming months.

Many of us, myself included, make resolutions about what we would like to change in the next year. And, many of us, again myself included, have found limited success. Is it because we lack willpower? Is it because we are lazy? Is it because we decide we don’t care after a month? It’s not likely these are the actual reasons for our lack of accomplishment. For most of us, we state a general goal we want to attain or a situation or behavior we want to change, but we do not plan how to make the change happen. Of note, we spend months planning vacations, parties, and moves that are over in a day or a week but devote little time planning how we will accomplish the changes we feel are important to us. In other words, this serves as an example of how we slight ourselves by placing other activities, events, and people above our personal needs.

PASSION FOR LIFE: 7 Questions To Finding Your True Passion by Frederic Premji from INeedMotivation.com

According to a recent survey, about 75% of the population do not know what their true passion is. Clearly, almost everyone seems to not be doing what they were meant to do. This is an eye-opener because doing what we really love is absolutely necessary if we want to be fully happy. Perhaps this is why there is so much unhappiness going on in our society, people just aren’t doing what they are here on Earth for. Finding your true passion isn’t as simple as it may seem. For some, yes it does come naturally, but most of the time, you have to ask yourself some questions to pinpoint exactly what you were born to do. Here are my 7 questions that can guide you to finding your ultimate passion:

passion6

What puts a smile on your face?
Is there a particular event, a particular topic that makes your whole face just lighten up? Whatever it is that makes you smile, and makes you happy whenever you encounter it, this is a sign of something you are passionate about. I truly believe that happiness and passion walk hand in hand. Both require each other. So following what makes you truly happy is a wonderful way to figuring out what you were put on Earth for. Think about something that you do or that perhaps you used to do that brings total peace to you when you do it. Peace is happiness, and happiness is passion.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. –Eleanor Roosevelt

A passion in life isn’t something you’re born with. It’s cultivated by your interests, what stimulates you and what you are genuinely excited about. But what if you want to pursue many avenues and just don’t know which one you’d be the most successful at or want to invest the most time in? Or what if nothing particularly lights the proverbial fire under your bottom, but you have a lot of energy that you could devote to something? Or maybe you’re stuck in a job you despise, but don’t know what other route to take that would truly be fulfilling.

PASSION FOR LIFE: Living on Purpose – Finding Your Forgotten Life’s Passion by Cheryl DeMarco

Who are you? Answer that question right now before you read further. I’ll guess that many of you answered the questions by saying what you do, or what your relationship is to someone else. If you named your occupation, or said you are a parent or spouse, you have actually answered a different question.

passion3

Who you are is not the same as what you do. All work is designed to end at some time. Children grow up and move away. Marriages end. When identity is tied to anything outside ourselves, we set ourselves up for substantial turmoil when life sends us those inevitable endings. So who are you? Another way of asking that question is: what is your life purpose?

PASSION FOR LIFE: My Passion, My Life by Catherine Franz from EzineArticles.com

Every morning I excitedly get out of bed.  Just a few minutes of goals and visions for the day swirl in my head. No lingering for me, no alarm, no wishful notes too.  Just me in my night gown with no hat.

I sit down to enter my dreams and what can notes.  In my journal entries that began long ago with a tiny book and its lock and key.  I used to dwell on all the icky things back then but now I write God with my cheers and glees instead.

glee

I remember the days I knew not whether I was going to live or die.  I also never thought I’d see why cancer came by. I’m glad I had cancer because today I like the who I’ve become.  Which would have never occurred had it not appeared.

If I dwell, I can remember the day of an accident that left me in a wheel chair for years.  Because I know if I do, today there will be a lot of have nots and heart of tears too.

PASSION FOR LIFE: Passion for life by Jennifer Angel from the New York Times

The “word passion” conjures up all sorts of images and feelings.

If we determine what we are truly passionate about then life would be very simple, because it’s the passion that drives us.

It is passion that leads us to our being able to fulfill our goals.  Passion drives us to do what we love, to love what we do – and to love.

But how do we find this elusive passion that sets us into action?

Passion2

Somewhere inside us we all have something that we really want to do in life; something that will drive us to the fulfillment and satisfaction that makes us fill the hours with enjoyment and energy.

What stops us from finding this driver? Sometimes it’s our lack of self confidence – the voice that asks; Do you really think YOU could achieve that?”

PASSION FOR LIFE: Find Your Passion; the Money Will Follow by Bonnie Price from WomenEntrepreneur.com

Remember Marsha Sinetar’s landmark book, Do What You Love, The Money Will Follow, in 1989? It still holds true. Most of us know a businesswoman who got started because she loved doing or making something so much that others wanted to be part of her passion. How delightful to know that Sinetar’s words are still true, and that those who’ve lived that concept have become savvy businesswomen.

passion

In 1989, Sat Kartar Khalsa was already on the umpteenth version of her vision, with more changes to come. As a teenager in the 1960s she taught herself to play the guitar, hoping to  become a singer/songwriter and the next Joni Mitchell. But then one night she attended a yoga class at a college friend’s urging, and her life goals changed. The class was in Kundalini yoga, which incorporates chanting as part of its practice. Here Khalsa found the perfect combination of spirituality and music.
